Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him.
When Jesus was upon the earth, He taught His disciples how to pray. He directed them to present their daily needs before God, and to cast all their care upon Him. And the assurance He gave them that their petitions should be heard, is assurance also to us.
Daily prayer is as essential to growth in grace, and even to spiritual life itself, as is temporal food to physical well-being. It’s like food to the soul, we need it. In James 5-18 says “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that It might not rain: and it rained Not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.” This is just one example how powerful prayer can be.
Prayer should be our armor of God, His word says He will protect His children. If it is His will for your prayer to be answered He will answer it. I’ve had many prayers answered and some not answered. I try to be as Obedient to God as I could be because I love my prayer life, and I love how He takes care of me. I don’t know where I would be without him. One of my recent answered prayers was for my animals. I have puppies and I get nervous when they are alone in the backyard because of the wild animals we have around here. I often hear about the attacks on dogs in my neighborhood so I always pray to God to keep his hedge of angels around my family and my animals. I did find myself praying a lot about my puppies lately too. One morning when I was praying I kept hearing crows outside squawking, it was very loud and it seemed to be a lot of them and wasn’t stopping. At first, I thought they were trying to get the newly laid eggs in a nest that I was trying to help but as I walked outside I saw both dogs looking outside the fence and I saw 2 big crows (huge crows, a lot bigger than a regular cat) diving down over and over again. So I go to the fence and outside of my fence was a bobcat. These two crows were literally diving and hitting the bobcat pushing him away from my property. They continued to do this until the bobcat was about 3 blocks away back into the desert area. So I was thanking God nonstop because I knew that was from Him. This is just one of many answered prayers I had. This is proof how powerful prayer is. Prayer shouldn’t be a repetitive prayer, we need to sincerely speak from the heart. When I pray I try to always get on my knees, this shows respect to our God which also pleases him greatly.
So before you give up on everything and say nothing is going to work, remember God is here. He is the Living God. God makes the impossible possible, like His word says in Philippians 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me.” And in Matthew 19:26 “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”
