Make it a better destressed kind of year with God, exercise and a healthful diet! Now that it’s closer to 2019 the new year resolutions will start to pile in, but how long will they last? Statistics say 80% will fail by February, yep! That’s right! 80% of us will fail in the second month of the year, pretty sad right? How can we avoid failing? Do something you never done before, ask God to help you change your life to a healthier you and be consistent! Consistency is key!
Unfortunately stress and depression continue to rise in both adults and children. According to a report posted by Everyday Health studies show diagnoses jumped by one-third overall, with the highest rise among adolescents and millennials. No wonder suicide rates are off the charts in that age group! The soaring depression rates among teens and millennials are especially alarming, according to Dr. Haywood, the senior vice president and chief medical officer for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, because the condition could have an impact on their health for decades to come.
Karyn Horowitz, MD, a psychiatrist affiliated with Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, says that technology may be a contributing factor.
“Increased use of electronics — video games more commonly in boys and social media and texting more commonly in girls — can lead to increased conflict both within the home and with peers,” Dr. Horowitz says. “For some kids, video game use can become an addiction, leading to social isolation, poor school performance, and impaired sleep.”
While the rate of depression diagnoses shot up 47 percent for boys, the rate climbed by 65 percent for girls. The higher depression levels among girls may be linked to a greater risk of cyberbullying on social media, according to Horowitz.
We need to pay more attention to our children’s activities and health. We get so stressed out in our lives that we can’t or don’t want to deal with our children. They almost feel like a burden because of our already stressed out life, not that these mothers want to feel this way but I’m sure some feel it. When we are chronically stressed about work, divorce, abuse, depression, money or whatever the issue may be it takes a toll on our lives. Stress causes sickness, confusion, carelessness, depression, physical health problems and many more issues of the body. With all this in mind when we have a hyper active, disobedient, or rebellious child it seems like the end of the world for some. Instead of going to God or analyzing their high sugar or unhealthy diets they do something they said they would never do like medicate the child. Sure, maybe you see some kind of improvement at first but from my research and the many I talked to personally say they eventually need more, or the drugs stop working so they try several other drugs and/or the child gets worse. It’s either deeper depression, obesity, suicidal tendencies or out of control. I’m not trying to judge or insult anyone, but studies have shown that kids/adults with depression, ADD, autism, skin issues, weight issues, etc that changed their diets/exercise and were consistent have improved impeccably. This also clears the brain and helps us get closer to God who will ultimately save our souls if we let Him.
So take an inventory of your life and weed out the bad and replace it with the good and stay consistent. Once you do your life will be better and so will the lives around you. Don’t let the world tell you a lie that sounds godly but is really just sin dressed up as righteousness. Go after the truth as if your life depends on it, and you’ll be rewarded for your faith. Talk to God as the only one who can. And you’ll find that he is truly the one who will.
Getting close to God should be a full-time commitment. Reading our bible once a week and/or going to church once a week won’t get you close to God nor will is save you. We should read the Bible every day, go to church every week, even a bible study once a week too. Talk to God every day, pray when you wake up and before you go to sleep. We should start our days with God and end them with God. When you show God how serious you are watch how your life changes. We can’t expect God to help us if we aren’t true to him. It’s like being married, would your spouse stay with you if you cheated on him/her? Of course not, you have to be faithful in order for the marriage to work. Another example is building muscle, you have to be consistent with your exercise and have a proper diet in order to see growth in your muscles. You won’t see gains if you eat garbage and work out once a month. Well maybe you’ll see fat in your gut but not the muscle growth you want to see.
And yes I get it, it’s hard, but we can do it if we want to. Plan the day out. We have 24 hours in a day. Get a piece of paper and pen and write down everything you do from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep. Make sure you put the times next to it. If you do this you will most likely see how much free time you have or how much time you waste on your phone. Truth is, we can do anything we put our minds to. If we really want it we will get it. Most people quit early because it’s a lot of work trying to conquer goals. They put it off and eventually forget about it because Candy Crush is more important, or so they think. It’s time to make a change, a real change. Starting with God will create the biggest change of your life. Here is a study you may find interesting about reading the bible:
Bible Reading and Personal Outlook
Carol Eisenberg
November 10, 2001
For more than 1,000 years, the Bible has been the most widely read and circulated book in history, influencing the development of language, literature and culture.
Now, a Christian publishing house says it has scientific evidence that reading the Bible promotes a positive outlook.
According to a July study that the publisher commissioned from the Barna Research Group, an independent marketing research company in Southern California:
82 percent of regular Bible readers described themselves as “at peace,” versus 58 percent of those who said they never read the Bible.
78 percent of regular Bible readers said they felt “happy” all or most of the time, versus 67 percent of nonreaders.
68 percent of regular Bible readers said they were “full of joy,” versus 44 percent who said they never read the Bible.
The study was paid for by Tyndale House Publishers, a Carol Stream, Ill., company that sells Bibles as well as books related to Christian themes. “We had a reputable company do it,” said spokeswoman Pamela Finch. “The results are absolutely credible.”
Data supplied by Barna Research says the study was based on 1,004 television interviews conducted among a sample of adults selected to reflect the nation’s regional and ethnic makeup, and had a sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points.
Particularly in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Finch said the study suggests that Bible-reading should be a resource, no less than counseling or medication, in coping with anxiety and depression.
The study also found that 81 percent of regular Bible readers said they were satisfied with life in general, versus 63 percent of those who don’t read the Bible. Ninety-four percent of regular Bible readers believe that life has a clear purpose and meaning, versus 76 percent of nonreaders. -Copyright (c) 2001, Newsday, Inc.

Make this year the year of change in your life. Quit having history repeat itself and make a permanent change. You and your family deserve happiness and to live a long and healthy life. Get on a diet that requires more whole foods rather than processed foods. Yes, this will mean you will have to prepare rather than throw something in the microwave or oven. There is no reason for us to eat added sugar. The only sugars we need are from fruits and vegetables. Get on an exercise plan, you can start by walking everyday 10 minutes and after you get stronger you can increase the speed and time. You can also work out at home 2-3 times a week. There are free workouts on YouTube, or hire a personal trainer if you need motivation. After you are consistent and your motivation is high you won’t need a trainer anymore. Prove everyone wrong and Be the Change! If you have any questions about diet and exercise you can email me. Good Luck and God Bless! 😊
And remember… healthy eating creates healthy minds which gets us closer to God and healthier lifestyles. Happiness consists of a healthy mind, body and soul. Stay Balanced.
